Woodworkers Toolbox
At woodworkers patterns, your woodworkers toolbox is not just for tool storage. Although this is the main function of a woodworkers toolbox, whats inside of it, is whats more important. Having the proper tools for your wood shop is just as important as the tool storage.
Lets go over some of the essentials. I could go in to depth, but for now, lets just talk about the basic tools I use everyday in my wood shop, no matter what it is I'm building. Usually the first thing I grab is my tape measure, lets face it, without that, your done. Old timers will tell you a wood rule is better than a tape measure. I prefer the tape. It's just faster! it's personal preference I suppose.
Other tools in my woodworkers toolbox would include: claw hammers, utility knife, T square, rafter square, lots of pencils, can never have enough of these. Also, screw drivers, plyer set, and a bunch of different power tools. My best friend is my cordless drill. This has to be the best invention since electric. Back in the day, everyone use to use nails, now it seems everyone is using screws to build their woodworking projects. Not to mention screws make it stronger, a less possibility of coming apart. Try and pull two boards apart that are screwed together. It's hard to do. But before the cordless drill, it was a pain using screws. Way easier now.
Speaking of cordless drills, do yourself a favor, buy an 18 volt or higher drill. The others in my opinion are junk. Batteries don't last as long, and they just don't have the power. jmo
You can go crazy putting things in your woodworkers toolbox, I know I do. I have so much stuff in there, I can't find what I'm looking for half the time. So it's endless what you can put in there. but if your just starting out, start with the basics, and build from there.

Woodworking
Woodworking, in my opinion, is the most rewarding of all crafts. Theres no better feeling than when you complete your woodworking projects. More and more people are getting into the wonderful craft of woodworking. Some are doing it as a career and some are doing it, just as a hobbie. I just happen to do both. You know if someone works all day with wood, and then comes home and works in the wood shop, then they must love what they do. I personally have been woodworking for over 35 years, and still love it. But woodworking goes back hundreds of years. When the cavemen made their speers and clubs, I suppose that is perhaps when it all started.
Today, we have a lot more sophistocation. Every year someone comes up with a new woodworking tool to help get the job done easier. I pretty much try and keep up with all the latest technology and gadgets, but it can get rather expensive. All you woodworkers know what I'm talking about. Some that want to get into the trade, forget the fact that it's not just about making wooden projects, but the tools required to get the job done properly. For me it's an investment. The better tools I have, the better the job turns out, the faster I can get the woodworking project done, the more money I make, so it's a little more important for me to keep up with the latest in wood working tools. For the woodworking hobbiest, you can buy what you need as you need it, at a pace you can afford it. But having the right tools for the right jobs, makes things go a hole lot smoother.
